Multimedia Communications and how it's influence me

As a young boy I was interested in multimedia and it continues today. I'm now 21 years old and studying media, it influence me.When I was grown up alot of new media and technology was being invented. When I was 4 Sony unveiled the Play Station and it took gaming to a whole new level, we were use to playing the Sega or Nintendo with the game cartridge the Play Station used a disc format which meant better graphics, Longer games because of the size of the disc. The disc also became big in film when VHS turned into DVD. When the Play Station 2 was released it used the DVD format and again the graphics have improved and longer games, more recently when HD-DVD and Blue-Ray was released there was a battle to see which would win much like the battle between Beta and VHS. Blue-Ray won, that means that films and TV shows are now watchable in High Definition. The Play Station 3 uses that format of disc which means the graphics have improved so much some games are like watching a film they're that good.
The main influence for me in multimedia is the internet. It has influenced me big time because we can speak with friends across the world using social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. We can video chat to people using Skype. The chance to read breaking stories as they happen instead of waiting till the next day on the newspapers. We are able to stream and download music and films at anytime to watch are our favorite football team for nothing is crazy and technology has added to that most people have smart phones (i-phones, blackberries etc) They have the internet in their pockets, they can update Facebook and Twitter on the go, they could be sitting on the toilet for all we know. Media theorist Marshall McLuchan said "The medium is the message" which means that the medium enbeds itself to the message allowing the medium to influence the perception of the message. The medium that shapes and controls the scale and form of human association and action. In this case the media is the medium and it controls me on what I watch, read and listen to.
